Portable ScanSnap iX100 takes business professionals to new levels of productivity and efficiency
London, September 9, 2014 – Fujitsu has launched a new model of its award- winning ScanSnap document scanner series: the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX100.
This ultra-portable solution with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and battery makes scanning on the go more efficient and productive than ever before. It has been designed to support the needs of business professionals – wherever they are or whatever document they need to get scanned. The latest member of the ScanSnap family allows mobile workers to capture documents directly to smartphones, tablets, PCs and Macs via Wi-Fi and to share the data via cloud services. Weighing just 400g and scanning at a speed of 5.2 seconds per page (A4, colour, 200/300 dpi) it is the fastest in its class to date. The ScanSnap iX100 takes the business professional to new levels of productivity and efficiency, wherever he or she is doing business.
"With more and more people working outside of the office environment, mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones have become standard equipment for most business people", says Mike Nelson, Vice President at PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Ltd. "Our ScanSnap iX100 is a tiny and highly reliable scanning partner that greatly enhances the efficiency of the mobile workforce." "We constantly advance our ScanSnap scanner family to match the current and future needs of our customers", adds Klaus Schulz, Manager Product Marketing EMEA at PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Ltd. "Mobile workers can now capture documents, business cards or receipts via Wi-Fi without worrying about the Wi-Fi network environment or being tangled by the cables."
Unlimited usage scenarios
The Wi-Fi connectivity and built-in lithium-ion battery provide users with the ultimate portable scanning experience. With the ScanSnap iX100, mobile workers have the freedom to carry out tasks from any location. The powerful GI processor is able to deliver high-quality and auto-corrected digitised image data from any document, which is later available in JPEG, PDF, searchable PDF format or as editable Word, Excel or PowerPoint files.
This makes the ScanSnap iX100 the capturing solution of choice for insurance agents, sales people, auditors, lawyers or any other professional who needs to scan documents in an environment outside his office. Users in small offices or students also benefit from the compact format and versatility of the device.
Adapts automatically to the network environment
The built-in Wi-Fi is able to automatically detect and switch to the network environment at home, in the office or on the go with easy switching between the environments. Users can scan wirelessly directly to their Android or iOS device even without a Wi-Fi access point.
- At home: connect via the access point of the router at home
- In the office: connect via the secured Wi-Fi network environment
- On the road: connect using the ad hoc mode without an access point
New features for new efficiency
Two advanced features help in particular to reduce the time for capturing and to make the mobile users’ work more efficient.
- Dual Scan: This new feature allows users to scan two small size documents, like receipts or business cards, at the same time. The ScanSnap iX100 is able to automatically recognise the paper size.
- Automatically stitch a two page spread: Documents up to A3 size can be digitised without the need for a carrier sheet. By simply folding the document in half, after scanning the ScanSnap iX100 will automatically stitch together for example a chart that is spread across the centre of the A3 page.
The Fujitsu ScanSnap iX100 supports Windows, Mac OS, Android and iOS. It allows users to scan up to 260 sheets (A4, colour, simplex, 300dpi) when fully charged. The scanner comes with a comprehensive PC/Mac software package consisting of ScanSnap Manager, ScanSnap Organizer, CardMinder, and ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap and Scan to Microsoft SharePoint (PC only). The ScanSnap Connect Application is available as a free download from Google Play for Android users, from Amazon Appstore for Kindle users and from iTunes for iOS users.
The scanner will be available at Fujitsu sales partners starting 9 September 2014. The recommended retail price is 183 £ (229 €, 297 $) plus VAT.
